Fans of Mr Big and classic rock are sure to be in for an early Christmas present this year when famed vocalist and guitarist Eric Martin performs a special low key show in Newcastle. Martin began his musical career with the Eric Martin Band in 1985 before joining super group Mr Big in 1988. Perhaps his most well known songs with that group include ‘To Be with You’, ‘Just Take My Heart’ and their cover of Cat Steven’s hit ‘Wild World’. Mr Big reunited in 2009 and have actively toured since, promising – following a successful South American stint in 2013 – that the world hasn’t seen the last of this group.
Martin has also toured with little known super group ‘Scrap Metal’ in 2007 comprised of members of 80’s powerhouses such as Slaughter and Warrant.
As a performer who consistently packs out stadia across the world and has played in front of audiences this can sometimes number thousands, it will be a rare treat and delight to see Martin perform some of his most well known acoustic numbers – and, no doubt, a few hidden gems – in the low key settings of Think Tank? in Newcastle’s Times Square (next to the Life Centre).
Opening for Martin will be local band Rusted Hero, who perform an acoustic set for the first time, hoping to bring in their loyal audience to this unique performance. Also performing will be Sheffield based singer songwriter Simon Kaviani.
